The Academy Awards certainly were eventful this year. And even though most of the coverage has been about the various blunders of the evening, there was something pretty cool that happened before the stars even took their seats at the awards.

You’ve heard us talk a lot in the past about eco-friendly fashion, and celebrating individuals with influence making a difference, so we loved what Emma Roberts chose to wear on the red carpet! Her vintage Armani gown made almost every “Best Dressed” list this year and was an eco-friendly choice as a part of the Red Carpet Green Dress Challenge. Who says you can’t be sustainable and stylish?!

Alex Apatoff for People.com:

Right now, green beauty and sustainable fashion are two of the biggest, buzziest categories, particularly for celebrities. Whether it’s as small as a commitment to using coconut oil for moisturizer (like all these stars have) or a whole press tour devoted to eco-friendly fashion (hi, Emma Watson), the concept of environmentally-friendly style has never been hotter. But lest you think that means crocheted maxi dresses out of hemp or recycled plastic bottles, Emma Roberts is here to show that there’s more than one stylish way to save the planet.

The star took Suzy Amis Cameron’s “Red Carpet Green Dress Challenge” this year (one that nominee Naomie Harris has taken in the past), this time choosing to embrace the green side of vintage fashion by selecting a dress from Giorgio Armani’s archives. Specifically, a spaghetti strap couture gown from the brand’s January 2005 collection embroidered with cream crystals and waves of small white jet beads with a two-tiered skirt and a dramatic plunging bodice featuring jet and black crystal teardrops and a black satin cummerbund.

We’ve posted lots of great content about sustainable fashion in the past and will continue to do so because we’re committed to spreading the word about eco-friendly practices in the fashion industry. In our own business, we offer eco-friendly products and methods for clothing care. Learn more about our green cleaning options!
