Inspired by: Flutter Sleeves

Long gone are the days of strapless ballgowns with a single string of pearls. If Spring 2018 Bridal Week is a true indication of the upcoming trends in bridal wear (which it usually is), we are in for a treat! The season’s show included a ton of eye-catching trends, from black ribbon accents and oversized bows to capelets and scarves made out of veils.

Each one of these trends is fun and exciting to watch on a runway, but we know that not every bride would feel comfortable wearing giant Victorian sleeves down the aisle. There was one trend that we think will be picking up steam among all types of brides though: the flutter sleeve.

This ultra-feminine detail feels at home on a romantic lace gown or on anything with an empire waist. In fact, this trend tends to pop in and out of fashion history a lot – and not just in bridal wear. You could associate flutter sleeves with anything from a 60s floral patterned maxi to a 2017 skater dress. It is this versatility that makes it worthy of an “Inspired by” post.
