Alana recently gave birth to a new baby, and was hoping to still get some additional wear out of her maternity pants. Unfortunately, the waistband had stretched and there was too much material at the waist.

Alana brought her maternity pants in to our Yonge and Lawrence location. After Alana tried them on, our tailor was able to mark where the excess material needed to be removed..

Alana was pleased that she would be able to get more use out of her maternity pants.

Candice purchased a new dress for her upcoming vacation. The only problem was that the dress was too long to wear as is.

When Candice brought her dress into our Ellesmere and McCowan location, she was hoping that our tailor could shorten her dress.

When Candice came in to pick up her dress, she was pleasantly surprised. Our tailor had used the extra material (that was cut to shorten the dress) to make a flower that could be added to Candice’s dress to accessorize it.

Candice now has two ways to wear her new dress on vacation.

The other day, Lisa brought her corduroy dress in for cleaning. She pointed out the green discolouration at the armpits and wondered if we could do anything to fix it.  Lisa was not sure what the stains were from or how they got there. She had never seen this before.

As soon as our experts looked at Lisa’s dress they were able to advise as to the cause of the discolouration and staining – deodorant stains.

The main cause of armpit stains is excessive perspiration, but sometimes the cause is due to the wrong deodorant or antiperspirant. When purchasing deodorant or antiperspirant it is always best to purchase the waterproof kind.  Deodorants and antiperspirants that are not thoroughly waterproof may be ineffective and be a cause of staining on your garments.

Stephanie came into our Yonge and Lawrence location the other day hoping to have a pair of jeans lengthened.  Our seamstress advised Stephanie that the jeans could be lengthened, but it was not a good idea.

The jeans that Stephanie brought in to be altered have been worn for some time and the hems had started to discolour from wear and tear.

Our seamstress advised Stephanie that if she lengthened the jeans the current discoloured hem line would be visible on the fabric and will leave a permanent crease line in the jean.

After careful thought Stephanie decided it was better to leave the hems alone and was grateful that our seamstress took the time to explain why it was not a good idea to lengthen her pants before proceeding with the alteration.
