Your winter coat can take a beating from the harsh Canadian weather. For your coat to give you the best protection, follow these tips.

  • Before purchasing a new winter coat check for durability, warmth, construction and comfort. Remember to check the lining to be sure it hangs evenly.
  • Protect your coat from salt, sand and dirt by having it dry cleaned regularly and professionally repaired as necessary.
  • When storing your coat after cleaning, remove the plastic and leave an inch or two between each coat to allow the garment to “breathe”. Use a sturdy hanger to ensure that your coat keeps its shape.

Buying a winter coat is an investment. In our northern climate it is a garment you’ll be wearing for several months straight and probably for a number of years.
