Eco-Bridal Tip: Rework an old gown into a fabulous modern one
Brides come to Parkers when they want the most important dress they have ever worn to look like it did before it was dragged around a dance floor for hours. Our brides are often also eco-conscious and are looking for a cleaning process that is gentle on their gown and safe for the environment.
When we learned about the fine folks at Pure Magnolia, we knew that their eco-friendly dresses were perfect for passing along to our customers and future brides. Pure Magnolia is fully Canadian and creates handmade couture wedding gowns from eco-friendly materials. Their dresses are absolutely stunning and use fabrics like wild silk and vintage lace.
Pure Magnolia popped back up on our radar when they made a call for old wedding gowns to be turned into modern dresses. What a neat idea! I’m sure that we don’t need to mention that you might want us to clean the dress before you do this, but make sure that you do, ok?
“Do you have a really old dress? Is it poofy? I mean really poofy? Does it spring out of your spare closet like an attacking jungle cat every time you open the door? Do you wish there was a way to remove this really old, really poofy dress from your life without throwing it in the trash and dishonouring the memories associated with it?
Well, have we got a solution for you.
We would love to take your unwanted pre-1980′s wedding dress and give it a new life. We take vintage dresses, deconstruct them, and reuse all of the parts that can be re-used. Even if the dress has a rip in it, the fabric is falling apart, or it is discolored, we can often use buttons, lace, and trim. We will also gladly take vintage veils and headpieces from any era.”
