Our Blog
Ok, Toronto. We get it. It’s winter.
While it’s tempting to hang around inside, complaining about the snow, we’ve decided to adopt a positive attitude and embrace winter. If it’s going to snow, it had better snow at least 20 cm. If it’s going to be cold, it had better be cold enough that our weather apps warn us not to go outside for longer than five minutes for fear of frostbite.
We realize that loving winter isn’t everyone’s first instinct, so we’ll start you off by showing you a few of our favourite winter perks – they will be fashion related, of course!
1. It’s the best, if not only, time of year when you can wear white shearling. Elizabeth Victoria Clark channels classic glamour in her black and white ensemble. (Pst! If you have a white shearling coat like this, please take care of it properly by bringing it into a dry cleaner you trust – we know a good one!).
2. Bad hair days don’t need to bother you when it’s this cold because you can throw on an adorable tuque or knitted headband. We’ve seen the Style Mogul wear both (at different times, of course!) and they look awesome.
3. The best winter clothes make you feel like you’re curled up at home with a nice flannel blanket. This poncho outfit My Curves and Curls is wearing is equal parts styled and cozy – that woman knows how to make winter look amazing.
4. Chilly temperatures give you the perfect opportunity to practice your layering skills. If you’re a fan of To Vogue or Bust like we are, you might be thinking, “People who live in Vancouver don’t get to be in a post about cold weather.” Well, when you put together a monochromatic winter ensemble like this, you’re just begging to be included – despite our realization that no one in Toronto could pull off those shoes right now.
5. We couldn’t sign off this post without a nod to our favourites: knits. We’ve written entire posts about how much we love their warmth, versatility, and need for proper care (*Ahem*), so here’s a sweater for inspiration.
