3 Fabrics to Clean this Spring

Toronto, we’ve had temperatures in the -teens lately and needless-to-say, we are just as thrilled as you are. It’s as if the entire city opens the windows, emerging from hibernation, and takes a deep breath.

Spring.

It’s natural to want our homes to feel as fresh as the air coming through our newly opened windows, so most of us grab a pen and start jotting down a list of spring cleaning tasks to tackle in the coming months. Kind of takes a little bit of the the joy away from the season, doesn’t it? It doesn’t have to! My strategy is to associate every task with the activity I’ll get to enjoy once it’s complete. For example, scrubbing down my patio will result in warm summer nights drinking sangria with my best friends. Washing my drapes will help me avoid that horrifying moment when the morning light highlights all of the dust circling my bedroom. Ok, some of the results are just damage control.

As your textile cleaning experts, we simply can’t resist weighing in on your spring cleaning priorities. Here are the three fabrics you should clean every single spring.

1. Rugs: Remember that Christmas party you had where 30 of your closest friends strolled through your house, bringing the less-than-tidy streets of Toronto with them? Sure, you spot cleaned that area where someone spilled their glass of mulled cider, but all of your rugs worked hard this winter and deserve some care. You won’t believe what a difference fresh rugs make on your air quality.

If loading your rugs into your car and driving them to the cleaner doesn’t sound like your idea of a good time, schedule a rug cleaning pickup and we’ll take care of everything.

2. Window Treatments: As we’ve already mentioned, dusty blinds or drapes are blabbermouths. They are the first to tell our guests that we didn’t have time to do more than a quick dusting and can use a solid cleaning in the spring.

Thankfully, this is the kind of thing that we will come to your house and take care of. We use the Host® dry extraction system to get the job done because it’s non-toxic and environmentally-friendly.

3. Bedding: When you switch over your winter bedding for your lighter summer bedding, don’t forget to have everything cleaned before you store it. Shoving fabrics into storage without having them properly cleaned is a surefire way to shorten their lifespan and amplify any sweat stains you can’t see right now. Plus, when you pull everything back out in the winter, it will just plain smell – and that’s kind of gross, right?

We know that most household washing machines struggle with bedding, so schedule a free pickup and we’ll handle the dirty work.

We could go on and on about all of the fabric cleaning you could do, now that you have more daylight, but these three are the big ones. Take care of cleaning your rugs, window treatments, and bedding and your house will feel a whole lot fresher. Of course, we’re happy to help. Give us a call to price everything out and chat about the best timing for us to either come and clean on site or for our complimentary pickup and delivery service.
