4 School Uniform Cleaning Tips

They may not be worn as often these days, but that doesn’t mean you should neglect your school uniform cleaning. How you clean, when you clean, and how often, can all contribute to better-looking, longer-lasting uniforms. And that not only means your children will go to school looking their best, but you won’t have to replace the uniform as often.

Try These Tips for Keeping School Uniforms Clean

1. Act Fast on Stains

There may be no other type of clothing that endures a wider variety of stains than a school uniform. Think about it. On any given day, your child could return home from school sporting grass stains, food stains, ink stains, and who knows what else.

Regardless of the type of stain, it’s important to tackle them as soon as you can. While you probably won’t get to the stain while it’s fresh, it’s still better than leaving it overnight. Do a quick visual check of the uniform every day after school.

2. Get Them in the Habit of Changing into ‘Home’ Clothes

The longer your children wear their uniforms, the higher the chances that stains will appear. Get them into the habit of changing clothes as soon as they get home – even before starting their homework. Not only will the uniforms stay cleaner, they will suffer less wear and tear. And it will give you the chance to check more closely for stains.

3. Wash According to Instructions

Different articles of a school uniform can be made of different natural and synthetic fabrics. So it may be a mistake to wash them all together. Pay attention to washing-label instructions for each piece of the uniform.

4. Dry Clean Your School Uniforms

No matter how hard you try, keeping school uniforms clean can be a seemingly impossible task. Too much machine washing and drying can shorten their lifespan. Parkers cleaning specialists have the knowledge, experience and equipment to clean away even stubborn old stains and avoid shrinking. And they can check for and repair any damage or missing items while they do.
