Winter Weddings and Long-Sleeved Gowns

We don’t need to go on and on about winter weddings again; you already know how we feel about them, right? If not, check out this post about what to wear to a winter wedding. Right at the top of the laundry list of items we love is a bride’s perfect opportunity to wear a long sleeved wedding gown. A bride can certainly rock a full sleeve any other time of year and still look amazing, but the chilly weather makes the unique style even more appropriate (and appreciated when the wind kicks up).

As with many fashion choices, a long-sleeved wedding gown doesn’t necessarily provide the kind of warmth you would need for, say, an outdoor snowy wedding, but even a thin layer between you and that wind chill is nice. Plus, a long-sleeved dress can add a layer of formality and festivity to the nuptials.

For all that we love about winter weddings, one of their downsides is that the weather is a little harder on wedding attire. Even if your wedding is indoors, you’ll likely be taking a few snowy photos (hopefully!) and your dress will show it. Guests will probably be wearing more floor-length dresses and full suits, so any snowy, rainy, or muddy walkways will find themselves decorating clothing, much to your guests’ dismay.
